Commemorative Months and Days: July

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Did you know that there are dozens of official designations for both the entire month and specific days or weeks? Many of them are silly–July is National Tickling Month, for example–but if you’re looking for a topic to write about in an upcoming blog or newsletter, there are many that might be relevant to you and your buisness.

July is:

  • National Vehicle Theft Protection Month
  • Freedom from Fear of Public Speaking Month
  • Purposeful Parenting Month
  • Recreation and Parks Month

July 1st: First Scheduled Television Broadcast (1941)
July 1st: Mid-Point of the Year
July 4th: American Independence Day
July 19th: Woman’s Rights Convention in the United States (1848)
July 26th: All Or Nothing Day

For more information, check out Wikipedia’s lists of commemorative months and days, or take a look at this site by Library Support Staff. Or look for Chase’s Calendar of Events, the definitive resource, at your local bookstore or library.

Upcoming Teleclass: Introduction to ADD

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

In recent years, there has been a lot of public and scientific interest in Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), and yet many people are still not sure what exactly ADD is or how it affects those who live with it. It is estimated that 3 to 5% of the population displays significant traits of ADD, and yet as many as 1 in 8 people with ADD may be undiagnosed and unsure why their brains seem to work differently than others’.

Clients with ADD may have particular issues getting and staying organized, and face specific challenges in the organizing process. As a Professional Organizer, being able to identify and address these issues can be of great benefit both to you and your clients.

In the next A Red Bench teleclass on Wednesday, June 15th, Angela will interview Professional Organizer and ADD Coach Denslow Brown of The Coach Approach for Organizers.

On this call you will learn:

  • What is ADD?
  • What types of ADD are there, and how do they differ?
  • What are some of the positive and negative traits of ADD?
  • What should we keep in mind when working with clients who have ADD?
